Let me be clear: the Yankees will get going. I can’t be any more clear than that. They will figure things out. I am also extremely aware that we are 9 games in to a 162 game season.
But for now, I will absolutely take comfort in knowing that Yankees fans watched Giancarlo Stanton go 0-5 on Sunday against an extremely poor Baltimore team.
I also take a good amount of joy in the way in which the Red Sox are performing so far. Boston has jumped out to an 8-1 start, the only team with 8 wins, aside from the Astros. During Sunday’s afternoon game at Fenway Park, the Red Sox went down by as many as 5 runs, yet still won the contest 8-7 due to a 6 run explosion at the hands of Ramirez, Devers, Vasquez and Moreland.
The only sore spot for the Red Sox, which has not been any sort of issue through the first 8 games, was Eduardo Rodriguez’ abysmal start today. E-Rod went 3.2 innings, giving up 5 hits, 3 runs, all of which were earned. On the bright side, he did strike out 7 in a very short outing. Did Cora have him on a short leash? Sure. But he will clearly need to be better and work more efficiently in his starts if he hopes to keep his spot in a very clutch starting rotation so far for the Red Sox.
