March 4th is always a sad day, but this year feels like more of a celebration than anything else.
On March 4th, 1994, John Candy died of a heart attack while filming a movie in Mexico. This was such a sad day for Hollywood, as John Candy was the truest of treasures the world has ever seen.
You may know him as Irvin Blitzer, Del Griffith, Buck Russell or Barf. The man was in enough iconic movies that everyone should know him by name, if not, at least, by face.
I can’t begin to describe the amount of times my family and I have watched movies like Planes, Trains and Automobiles or Uncle Buck. These are movies that I grew up on. (My sister and I frequently tell each other that we should take a quarter, go downtown and have a rat “gnaw that thing off your face”. )
It’s hard to believe that it has been 25 years since John Candy’s passing. But today, we come today to celebrate one of the most legendary comedians, actors and an overall standout citizen in the Hollywood scene.
