“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” is coming to an end.

Variety has learned exclusively that the syndicated game show has been canceled. To date, it has aired nearly 3,000 episodes, including over 300 when the show aired on ABC.

“After a successful 17-year run, ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ will not return in national syndication for the 2019-20 season,” a show spokesperson told Variety

This was the first news that I ran across on Reddit this morning. While I’m not completely shocked, I was a little bit surprised by a few things about this show.

To me, this hasn’t been a show since Regis Philbin was done hosting it in 2002. But there has been a litany of retooling and different hosts that have kept it alive for the past 17 years.

The post-Regis era included hosts such as Rosie O’Donnell, Chris Harrison, Terry Crews and Cedric The Entertainer. That is a good sized list of badasses, for sure.

Rest in Peace, WWTBAM.
